We are looking for a Senior Buyer with experience working in the Engineering sector to join a very established Engineering firm based in Alrode.
To be considered for this role you must meet the requirements listed below:
Purchasing or Supply Chain Management Qualification
Qualified Mechanical Engineer or Trade Tested Fitter / Millwright
Minimum 5 years experience as a Buyer within the Engineering & Manufacturing environment
Working experience & knowledge of contracts management & supplier chain processes
Computer literate (Ms Office including Navision & SAP)
Excellent time management & communication skills
Health, Safety & Environmental working knowledge
Resilient, self motivated & able to work under pressure
You will be required to carry out the following duties:
Purchasing of goods, materials, components & services required within the specified budget
Ensure the continuous supply of required goods, materials & services. Should there be any problems you will need to communicate with the relevant departments & ensure that this is resolved in a timely & cost effective manner.
Research & evaluate the market for the best quality & cost of products & services required
Develop, maintain & implement cost effective procurement processes
Negotiate contracts & prices with the relevant suppliers
Assess & evaluate suppliers. This also includes performance reviews on contracts
Review tender applications from potential suppliers
Prepare purchase orders in a timely manner
Contact suppliers to rectify errors on invoices / deliveries etc.
Mentor & coach the assistant buyers in your team
Compile various reports for management on a weekly, monthly & yearly basis.
